She often wondered why she smoked, as she took a drag and held her white wrapped cigarette loosely between two fingers. It couldn’t have been for the buzz, she didn’t smoke enough for that, not enough to be truly addicted. She exhales, a concentrated line between pursed lips. Oh, I should like to ride the seas,
A roaring buccaneer;
A cutlass banging at my knees,
A dirk behind my ear.
And when my captives' chains would clank

Just One of Those Things

I know it's been an obscenely long time since I posted anything here, and I just wanted to apologize for that. The muse is fickle, after all, and it's hard to find things that I can get from my head to the page without there being some.... Issues. That being said, I have not dropped off the face of the planet, and do intend to polish up some writing and get it up here soon (ish)

This Is the Way I Understand It

A friend of mine's parents died yesterday. A car crash with no apparent cause, his mother died on site, his father in hospital. He's not yet twenty. At this time of cheer it seems inappropriate to talk about it.  'not in the Christmas spirit' and it's easy when you don't know the person to shrug it off and say 'well people die'. This is true. People do die, all the time, regardless of season, or holiday and every time someone dies, someone else has to go through a very personal hell for a while. Hey! Sorry for advertising, but a mate of mine (who is a writer) just recently made this website blog thing for fantasy writing, worldbuilding, and characterisation tips.
It focuses a lot on realism and warfare as well.
